Rules and Format

This is a boys vs. girls tournament. We recommend that each team has a minimum of 15 players (12 players on the field at a time). Each team must wear their reversible practice pennie. All teams will play using women’s lacrosse rules (no contact) and equipment. Each girl’s team will need to provide 15 extra sticks and goggles to loan to the boys’ teams.

One Love Foundation Mission

The One Love Foundation was started in 2010 to honor the memory of Yeardley Love, who was a senior, and member of the women’s lacrosse team at UVA when she was tragically killed by her ex-boyfriend, just weeks shy of her graduation. Today, nearly five years after Yeardley’s death, One Love is doing more work than ever to achieve its goal of raising awareness among young people to end relationship violence. In the 3rd year of this tournament, the goal is to bring together boys and girls to raise awareness at the high school level by having a fun, non-traditional lacrosse tournament.

Screening of Escalation

In addition to the tournament, The One Love Foundation would like to extend an invitation to the parents, coaches and players of the teams that are participating in this tournament to view the film entitled Escalation and participate in a workshop. Escalation is a 40 minute film that is the centerpiece of a 90 minute workshop that One Love is bringing to campuses across the country this year. One Love Ambassador

Representing your school as an Ambassador is a great opportunity to earn community service hours while supporting an important mission while having a great time with your friends! As an Ambassador, we ask that you support this event by:

1. Recruiting a 15 player team with your school’s lacrosse coach.
2. Asking each teammate to order a t-shirt. Text 469.644.7211 with name & size as you get order.
3. Raising $100 or more through letter campaign and t-shirt sales.
4. Promoting through social media the 4th annual Dallas One Love Tournament (content will be provided).
5. Attending the tournament on May 20 from 1:00 – 4:00 at The Greenhill School.

You will earn 1 service hour for every $50.00 raised and for each hour you are at the tournament. Our goals include growing our Ambassador program. Please invite your friends (no lacrosse connection needed) to join us in educating, fund raising, and earning community service hours!
